Domestic Violence Against Women and the Need for Reform

Violence in the outside world is very well voiced but what about violence within the walls?

In Peru domestic violence against women has been an ongoing problem and during the short span of a couple months of the pandemic, rates for domestic violence against women have risen quite significantly. In many households being trapped at home with just your family has caused many spikes in these rates.

Because of the quarantine situation, many victims are stuck at home with their abusers and they can’t reach out for help. Many of the problems with domestic violence cases are within the justice system of the country and the unfair mental bias society has against women in Peru. Peru’s history has layers upon layers of sexism and sexual assault. Along with this comes a mental stigma against women. Domestic violence needs to be brought more attention too in today’s world and on our global news platforms.
